Lei contributor Samantha Feyen journeyed up to the Pacific Northwest last week for “Pride Beyond Borders,” making this her first pride parade away from home. Last year, we sat down with this Maui born photographer to talk about her work and inspirations, which you can read about here.

Feyen recently shared with us her iPhone captures from Seattle Pride Parade along with her reflections of the experience.

“Seattle Pride was more personal, everyone seemed to be more connected and not really there for the ‘hype’ – it actually reminded me more of Hawaii pride because of that ‘home’ feeling being there,” said Feyen.

“There were people from all walks of life, all ages, all occupations, with one mission and that was to celebrate LOVE. Cheesy as that sounds, seeing that all right in front of you when you’re there is a beautiful, beautiful thing.”
