In partnership with Bentley Motors, meet five inspirational women — interior designer Breegan Jane, Olympic surfer Carissa Moore, wine expert Vanessa Price, Shaka Tea founder Isabella Hughes and business incubator Meli James — all passionate thought leaders in their communities who define success and what modern luxury means today through their inherent curiosity and appreciation for detail.

Some people make it look so effortless. They move with such ease and confidence, you could be forgiven for assuming their journeys must have been smooth ones. The reality, of course, is never that simple.

The road Breegan Jane has traveled to date has been full of turns, twists, bumps, detours and surprises.

But the award-winning interior designer has navigated them with resiliency, making her a natural person to feature in Bentley Motors’ newest film for the Flying Spur, available as a high-performance hybrid for extraordinary journeys.

As an adopted child of white parents, Jane stood out from day one.

“I came into this world unique,” she says. “My name’s unique. My hair’s unique. And I’ve stood out in my community. My mother always taught me that unique was beautiful, so I really only could become the best version of myself. That built within me a confidence that I walk around with.”

Entering into the working world as a model at age two, Jane has since traveled many avenues, including owning a clothing store and a restaurant, becoming a mother, and returning to art school to learn web design.

“There were so many different things that I learned that helped me navigate my business today,” she says. “When you change your career a lot, you’re starting over a whole lot more.”

My mother always taught me that unique was beautiful, so I really only could become the best version of myself.

Today Breegan is a highly respected interior designer working in southern California, where she lives with her two young sons. You’ve likely seen her on television, co-hosting “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” or other design shows.

She pushes her clients to embrace their own uniqueness, namely because she’s used to making a statement.

“I always ask, ‘What is unusual about you? How can we put that into your space?’”

According to Jane, her signature style meshes the artistic and elegant with livable comfort. She achieves a stunning, modern aesthetic with decor that maximizes elegance and fosters simplicity, serenity and supreme comfort.

“One of the myths that I want to break is that luxury is unattainable,” she says. “I want everyone to feel special, and who doesn’t feel special in luxury? It’s not necessarily a shiny and expensive thing, it’s the thought and purpose behind it. Everyone deserves an elevated experience.”

California has long influenced Jane’s work, and Palm Springs, with its strong commitment to sustainability, proved a fitting place to explore in the Flying Spur Hybrid.

“Palm Springs inspires so much of my design,” Jane says. “It is where I come to find my creativity. One of the things I love about coming to the desert is the calmness of nature. It just provides my mind this sort of free space where my creativity can really flow, and I can design what’s in my mind’s eye.

“There’s just so much about California that can be taught through Palm Springs architecture,” she adds. “It provides a good lesson in how our dwellings can exist as a part of nature. Whenever I want to be inspired by what a simple line can do, I very much look toward Palm Springs and the houses that are set here in the mountains.”

Palm Springs is also special for another reason: family.

“Palm Springs was the first place my family ever went on vacation,” she says. “It’s the vacations I know from childhood, and there’s something magical about the first time you go on vacation.

One, you feel special, and you have that elevated experience, but you also redefine ‘home,’ and it is more about the people you’re with than the space you’re in. And I think because of that, Palm Springs has a special place in my heart.”

Breegan Jane

As an entrepreneur and mom, Jane has long had to find balance in her life, and how a space is designed is key to making everything in her world work.

“When I’m designing, I always start with performance,” Breegan says. “The design details and the craftsmanship are so important,” she continues, “but luxury starts with the performance piece. How do you function in your space and how does it work for you? The details are where the personality comes to life.”

It’s that unique union of performance and detail that is the hallmark of the Bentley Flying Spur. It delivers exhilarating performance with effortless power, and showcases details that include Crown Cut Walnut veneers and jeweled headlamps.

“We start where others stop.” This phrase is written on a wall at the Bentley headquarters in Crewe, England. It speaks to the extraordinary journeys Bentley is willing to undertake as a brand.

The Bentley Flying Spur is a shining example. Its 2.9 liter V6 hybrid powertrain dispatches seemingly limitless power, while remaining surprisingly efficient. Naturally, the driving experience is heart-racing, however, there are just as many exciting elements for passengers to discover.
