Lahaina is called the “Art Capital of the Pacific” because it is home to more art galleries per capita than any other town in the United States. Each second Friday, galleries stay open late to hold special shows and feature artists in action. Guests may also enjoy live music and outdoor vendor booths.

First Friday Chinatown Gallery Walk | Chinatown (O‘ahu) | January 5, 5 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Chinatown is the place to be if you want to join the hip crowds at the many unique galleries, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants that feature exciting art exhibits and free entertainment. Come to see the main events between 5 and 9 p.m., and stay for the late night party at some of the trendiest, most popular bars in Honolulu.

“Whale”abration Cruise | Ma’alea Harbor, 390 Maalaea Rd (Maui) | January 10, 3 – 5 p.m.
Join Maui Pride for the 4th Annual “Whale”abration Cruise aboard the Pacific Whale Foundation’s “Ocean Odyssey”, as they take to the high seas in search of Maui’s most famous winter visitors, the Humpback Whales! Tickets are $45/per person and must be purchased in advance.

This family-friendly pau hana event happens every second Friday of the month. The evening is filled with shops from local artists, entertainment, food, activities for kids and more at South Shore Market and Ward Village.

Sunset Pilates O Ka La | The Penthouse Lanai at The Surfjack Hotel | January 18, 6 -7 p.m.
Watch the sunset behind the Waikiki skyline from the penthouse lanai at The Surfjack Hotel. Every third Thursday of the month, join yogi and Pilates instructor Chelsea Peck for a dynamic group Pilates session. No mat? No worries. Mats are provided by Lululemon Honolulu.

Aoteroa’s Finest | Maui Arts and Cultural Theatre, Castle Theatre (Maui) | January 25, 7:30 – 10 p.m.
This is music that fuses cultural roots, memorable tunes, and honest, gripping lyrics by Māori singer/songwriters Maisey Rika, Rob Ruha, & Seth Haapu, joined by Horomona Horo, New Zealand’s leading practitioner in traditional Maori instruments.
